UV Printing is a form of digital printing that uses ultra-violet lights to dry or cure ink as it is printed. UV lights were used to quick dry gel nail polishes during manicures. They adapted the ultraviolet light application into printing to quick dry the ink.The use of UV lights prevents the wet ink from spreading which allows getting finer detail. In addition, UV cured inks are weather-resistant and offer increased resistance to fading. Since the process produces only few VOC’s, odour and heat, it is also regarded as more environmental friendly. UV curing also allows the flatbed printer to be used with non-traditional materials like acrylic or aluminium. The flatbed design of the UV printer produces the same high quality work of solvent printers, only on thicker substrates (surface of a material to be printed). It is also compatible with both rigid and flexible materials - including Acrylic, ABS, Coroplast, Aluminium and Foam board. Here are three UV Flatbed printers widely used:
Pixeljet 2030, High-Volume UV Flatbed Printer comes with the safety anti–crash sensor design and can detect the state of the media beforehand and protect the print heads from a crush hazard. While the anti-crash sensor detects that the edge of media is tilted, the turbo flatbed printer will initiate an emergency stop to prevent print head from damage. With the UV Varnish Solution option it enhances the visual quality and also creates the tactile attribute of graphics. Users are able to apply varnish directly on graphics via print heads as either an all over coating or as a spothighlighting, giving your printings more vivid and brighter finishing. It can also detect media and pneumatic medium jack up can load the large format media easily. The White Ink Recirculation results in an effective elimination of ink starvation and protects print heads from clogging hazard. Moreover the machine can be configured as KCMY / KCMY LcLm / KCMY2 and KCMY + W; and it could spray with white colour as bed or cover or spot-colour printing.
ColoJet VULCAN (UV Roll to Roll)
ColoJet VULCAN (UV Roll to Roll) integrates the fast firing Industrial Head (Industrial Grade Jetting Assembly), which is especially designed for UV-curable ink or other high viscosity ink printer. These print heads offer high quality prints for label or packaging, sign graphics, offset surprint, back-lit or front-lit banners, and other applications. Moreover, industrial head enables anti-blocking and automatic bubble cleaning technology which reduces nozzle blockages to maintain high quality prints. It is ideal for printing Banners, Billboard, POP and POS/Bus Shelters, Signage, Terminal Graphics, Trade Show Graphics, Window Display, Wall Graphics, Flags etc.
UJF-3042FX is ideal for single or short run digital printing products (including molded items), substrates and media up to 50 mm thickness with personalised messages. As UV LED does not generate excessive heat, printing on heat-sensitive material becomes possible. It has got features like simultaneous white ink under and overprint, staggered print head arrangement which doubles print speed, reverse print functionality and ink mist absorption filter. The print resolution is 720 × 600 dpi, 1,440 × 1200 dpi with Hard UV curable ink. The maximum print width is 300 mm (width) X 420 MM (length). It can afford media thickness to 50 mm and weight less than 5 kg.
